Seen by many gamers as the sequel to ICO, Shadow of the Colossus had some serious expectations to live up to – many of which it exceeded thanks in part to the superb soundtrack. You either love Katamari music, or you don’t. Kind of like the game – you get it, or you don’t. If you’ve played the game then you’ll know the songs – a mixture of quirky, jazzy, perfect pop. Alisa’s “Everlasting Love” is an absolute gem, and is worth buying the entire soundtrack for. If you’ve played the game then you’ll probably want this – it’s stupid, funny, daggy, wonderful music – and once you hear it away from the game it really gets under your skin and makes you smile.

ICO is without a doubt one of the most visually stunning and emotionally involving titles ever released on any console system, and much of it’s success is thanks to it’s unique, haunting soundtrack.

Despite the short run time, composer Michiru Oshima covers a lot of ground on Melody In The Mist – from ethereal lullabies, to unsettling soundscapes – finally ending with “You Were There”, a beautiful closing piece encapsulating the conclusion of ICO and Yorda’s epic struggle.
